A warm welcome to the Foundation Phase Class

At Tremoilet we believe that a truly successful education is a partnership between our school and the church, pupils, parents and our community. We always endeavour to form a strong partnership with parents and carers, so that we can work together to help your child develop and learn.

Our Foundation Phase class is a bright, colourful, spacious environment. Our aim is to foster a love for lifelong learning where our children can realise their individual full potential in a truly Christian environment within a caring and happy family like atmosphere.

Electric Rainbow

This half term our theme is Electric Rainbow’.

In this project children will learn:

  • How to create a simple circuit,
  • About the history of electricity,
  • How to stay safe when using electricity,
  • How to save energy and electricity,
  • How to present information using a variety of methods,
  • How to use light and colour to create patterns, effects and express feelings,
  • How to write simple poems on a theme.

This topic has a Knowledge and Understanding of the world focus.

Things to remember:

Physical Development
On a Tuesday we have our PE session. All children need to bring a PE kit (black shorts, tracksuit, school house (Dolwen/Gilman) t-shirt and trainers) to change into. Please help us by making sure all your child’s clothes have their name on.

Reading and Sounds
As your child begins to learn their sounds they will be given a reading book, reading book bag and sound cards with a reading record book in which you can record your child’s progress at home. It is so important to read to and with your child for a few minutes every evening or as often as you are able to.

Outdoor Learning
As part of the Foundation Phase your child will be using the outdoor classroom during the school week. Therefore as the weather gets warmer could you please ensure that your child wears a sun hat, sun cream and sun glasses etc. to school every day.

Water Bottles
We encourage all children to bring their own school water bottles to school as it is so important to keep hydrated. Please ensure your child’s name is clearly marked on their bottle. Bottles are sent home every evening.

Amser Snac - Fruit Time
We encourage all our children to enjoy fruit during the morning. It is a long morning for children from breakfast to lunch and so a piece of fruit and a drink of water or milk rehydrates and feeds so they are ready and able to learn. A variety of fruit are available for the children and the cost is £1.25p for the week or 25p a day.

School Dinners
Please pay dinner money on Monday. School Dinners cost £2.50 per day.
(Please see our information section to see if you are eligible for free school meals)

Money should be place in an envelope with your child’s name on stating which days your child will be having school dinners.

Your child can bring in a healthy packed lunch if you prefer but our school dinners are nutritional and are all made on the school premises by our cook Miss Patsy.

Dilwyn Draig

To help improve our pupils language and communication skills whilst developing the Welsh Language we have a class Dragon called Dilwyn. He goes home with his chosen child for the weekend every week. Pupils are chosen if they have worked very hard, been very kind to others or achieved their targets.Dilwyn will come his diary so the children can record what they have done on the weekend. Dilwyn loves bedtime stories and the children will love to read to him! They can then share what they have done with Dilwyn with the rest of the class the following week.

Dilwyn would really like Year One and Two pupils with assistance, to write in the diary themselves.

A bank of simple welsh sentences are included in his diary to help you to include some Welsh too! You may also include photographs, drawings and leaflets etc but this is not essential.

Foundation Phase School Day

At Tremoilet the safeguarding and welfare of our pupils and staff is of paramount importance to us.

Therefore if you are unable to pick up your child yourself, please let us know the name of the adult who will be picking up your child.

Thank you for taking the time to find out about our class. Please do not hesitate to contact the School for more information or to arrange a visit to come and meet us all.
